As part of the SUCOMINNO II project, we are pleased to welcome you to a morning of environmental discovery and action with two hands-on workshops delivered by AKTI Project and Research Centre.
These workshops are open to the public, free of charge, but registration is required due to limited spaces.
đ Workshop 1: Cooked Oil to Biodiesel â The Tiganokinisi Caravan Experience
Did you know your used cooking oil can become eco-friendly fuel?In this interactive session, participants will explore the journey from waste to energy by learning how used cooking oil is collected, filtered, and chemically transformed into biodiesel.
Key highlights:
Tour of the Tiganokinisi Caravan, a mobile environmental education unit.
Live demonstration of the conversion process of used oil into biodiesel.
Discussion on the circular economy, renewable energy, and how communities can implement sustainable practices at home or in businesses.
Real-life success stories from schools, restaurants, and households in Cyprus.

đ Workshop 2: Microplastics in the Sea â Invisible Threats, Real Consequences
Whatâs really in our seas? Letâs find out together.Join this eye-opening workshop focused on the growing issue of microplastics in marine ecosystems. Using real water samples, participants will use microscopes and scientific methods to identify plastic particles and assess their environmental impact.
Key highlights:
Hands-on sampling and analysis of water collected from nearby sources.
Introduction to microplastics, their sources, and how they enter our food chain.
Exploration of the ecological effects on marine life and human health.
